Based in Vancouver, BC since 1992
About
I’m a visual storyteller drawn to the rhythm of everyday life and the way light shapes how we see the world. My photography blends a graphic sensibility with introspective, eclectic themes—especially in documentary, street, and editorial work.
My creative path began in the late 1990s as a Graphic Designer and Print Producer for Vancouver-based marketing agencies. Mentorship, collaboration, and the fast-paced production world taught me the value of precision, curiosity, and teamwork—principles that continue to guide my work today.
In 2014, I reignited my passion for photography through a year-long Project 365, capturing one image each day while traveling. That experience sparked the launch of J. Paulo Ramos Photography, an evolving archive of fine art images from across the globe, and led me to ongoing editorial work for Branchlines, UBC Forestry’s flagship publication.
These days, I divide my time between photography and graphic production—turning Word Documents, JPGS, PNGs, and EPS files into thoughtful, well-crafted visuals that are easy on the eyes. From print & web graphics to publication design, I enjoy bringing stories to life through clean layout, considered imagery, and a deep respect for the craft.
Thanks for stopping by. Feel free to explore my work—and get in touch if you're interested in prints, digital downloads, or creative collaboration.
Cheers,
Paulo
