Capturing Alaska’s Glacial Landscape at 600mm

Paulo Ramos August 17, 2026

A recent image from Alaska, captured while passing through this incredible glacial landscape.

Photographing a scene like this with the FUJINON XF 150–600mm was both a challenge and a pleasure. At the longer focal lengths, keeping the lens steady—especially while shooting from a moving ship—required patience, careful framing and good timing. But that reach also made it possible to isolate details within the landscape and capture the scale, texture and layers of the glacier in a way that would have been difficult with a shorter lens.

Shot with the Fujifilm X Series + FUJINON XF 150–600mm. Special thanks to @fujifilmx_ca and @beauphotostore for the lens rental and the opportunity to bring it along for the trip.

Edited in Adobe Lightroom Classic. No AI was used to create this image.
